Popping in to wish you all a better 2010. I don’t know about you, dear reader, but 2009 can kiss MY ass. 2010 will be a scary, sad, and difficult year…but I have a feeling it will also be a wonderful, exciting and empowering year. Cheers!

Here’s a slideshow from Rhinebeck last weekend! It was so great to see everyone!!
Thought I’d be a blog whore for my blog on my other blog. That’s gotta be some kind of narcissistic level of achievement. BUT! I thought any of you out there who want fancy photos of their stash, etsy wares or other small photographable objects might be interested.
DIY Light box tutorial [pamelahelmephotography.com]
The gist is, you’ll make this:
To get photos like this:
No fancy equipment required. You can take this box (made of a box, tape and gift tissue) outside in the sun and have beautiful, soft light. Turn the flash off on your point and shoot (or whatever you have) and snap away! Enjoy!
(Also if my tute is confusing, there’s about 100 more on google!)
So I was so excited to finish my Love Bites scarf that I totally forgot TO DROP THE STITCHES! Who does that? I’m an idiot. So here’s some updated FO pics that include a bottle of Tru Blood I got yesterday for the finale Sunday!
I tried Tru Blood at the True Blood party in Boston last week (with vodka, making it a “fang banger”) and it’s pretty yummy. (It’s blood orange soda.) The party was pretty cool, very crowded, but cool. Rutina Wesley (Tara) and Nelsan Ellis (Lafayette) made an appearance and signed autographs for about 10 raffle winners, of which I was not one. Damn. But I saw them, got some schwag, free pizza and a pre-taste of the drink! Good times!
(click for bigger and more pics of that)
This week I received a wonderful surprise in the mail. My friend Annie (Annyka on Rav) felt bad for my failed attempts at snagging some Wollmeise during the week’o'updates last week and send me a skein of Clementine Wollmeise sock yarn! I was so excited!!
I immediately cast on for an Ishbel. It’s coming out so beautiful. I’m using a smaller needle (more because I wasn’t really thinking, but whatever) so it may end up a tiny Ishbel, but we’ll see.
I admit to assuming the hype over Trollmeise was too much, but damn if this isn’t the most pleasant and beautifully saturated yarn I’ve knit with. I still think Brooks Farm Solo Silk is my favorite yarn but this is right with it.
I am also working on a Featherweight Cardigan in Misty Mountain Farms natural black alpaca. I’m knitting a size down (because my yarn is more DK than lace) and so far my “fuck swatching, let’s wing it” is looking to be working. I will put it on some scrap yarn and check tonight. Maybe.
While I’m furiously casting on with no signs of stopping, I’m going to wind this up and cast on for my DAMN, Son. (Damson) It’s Littlefreak Littlesocks in “Heather”. I love Jodi’s colors.
It always comes with little stitch markers…love that. Jodi also sent me some candy, a bracelet and shoelaces. She is the most awesome.
The fall air is making me really excited for Rhinebeck. We’re staying in Poughkeepsie with a gaggle of LSGers and it’s going to be a total blast!! And this year I’ve even started saving money early!
This weekend I’m shooting an LSGer’s wedding, how cool is that?
Look! My first ever Wollmeise! I came home to a surprise package from Annyka (LSGer and friend) who must have felt sorry for my German-yarn-less self during the Great Wollmeise Update-a-thon last week.
Lookie!!

I’m thinking I might make myself a nice bright Damson with it…you DO knit with this stuff right? Not just rub it on yourself?
Yessss….this bitch is DONE!

It’s such a cute idea for a scarf. It was designed by rav user Gherkin (Krysten) for the Knit One, Dead Too group KAL for season 2 of True Blood. The idea is that there is two sets of fang marks…one for each of Sookie’s vampire lovers. So awesome! The group is great, too…I love being surrounded by people as obsessed with the show as I am.
Speaking of, I just heard the actors who play Tara Thornton and Lafayette Reynolds on the show will be at a club in Boston next Saturday (club is called Kings)…I’m sooooo there. Hopefully.
I’ve cast on for a Featherweight Cardigan [ravelry] but I am way off on gauge so I’m not sure how that will work out. We’ll see. It’s raglan so I may be able to tweak it for a DK yarn without getting a math nosebleed. I’m using natural black alpaca from Misty Mountain Farms. It’s soooo soft. I lurve it.
But since it’s sooo not lace weight I think I will name it my middleweight cardigan.
Make sure my WP upgrade didn’t make anything go splodey.
I just booked my hotel for Rhinebeck…who is going?
