Fumbling through spinning…again.
Don’t ask me why the itch came back, but it did. I spent last night watching videos and doing this:
I bought this:
at Maryland this past spring and spinning on it is about 10,000 times easier than with the cruddy Ashford spindle I got off ebay years ago. I think if I really love spinning (for longer than a couple of months) I will buy a nicer one.
I’m just using some “Wensleydale Cross” British Wool I snagged at Maryland for practicing. I am hoping by the end of this ball of roving I can tackle the pretty dyed stuff I got LAST YEAR at Maryland from the Fold.
FYI: If you want to learn a drop spindle these videos are super awesome. Do not use this video, it apparently is riddled with controversy. Back away slowly.
As for the Wips Wrestling? Were not going to talk about that.
Happy Birthday Babysticks!!
I got my first DSLR on June 30th, 2008. I took this picture with it at the restaurant we went to after I picked it up.
2 weeks later something else life-changing happened…it was even better than getting my first DSLR, on July 15th, 2008…I had this little guy:
Which brings us to today: Aiden’s 1st birthday!
Thanks for being keeping mommy supplied with a perfect subject through that first year of learning.
FO: Forest Canopy Shawl
Woohoo! My first real lace project and I think the first project I ever didn’t screw up! I love it! The Handmaiden Sea Silk is pretty pretty and drapes nice.
I did 14 repeats (pattern calls for 10) on size US 8’s. This was a WIPs Wrestling project so that’s one win for me! Go Team LSG!
Pics!
I have two scarves on the list to finish for WWM09, my 2nd Branching Out and my Hooded Cabled Scarf. We’ll see how that goes considering they’ve been languishing on the needles for about 2 years. Maybe more. I don’t even know anymore.
WIPs Wrastlin’ – Bitches are going DOWN!
It’s July and Ravelry is prepping for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Canuckistan by wrestling all those WIPs languishing in the back of our closets!
I am, so help me Bob, going to finish these goddamn scarves. I AM. Maybe.
And of course I will finish, if it kills me and it might, my Forest Canopy Shawl. I have 2 more repeats before I think I’m ready for the edging.
I have yet to knit a stitch but I got some photo work done yesterday and today so I think I’m due some quality knitting time. Team LSG is over 100 strong and already putting in some FOs! Take that L.
For everyone who asked, btw, my other blog is my photography blog/website and it is located at http://pamelahelmephotography.com. I am hoping to curve it toward a teaching site, in the vein of Pioneer Woman but obviously not as cool. (Bar is set high there!) I also post jobs I do and other photo projects. Hope to see some of you over there too!
Latest posts over there include lots of these:
^That one? Turning ONE in 13 days. wtf.
