Just wanted to post a quick note to let you all know that I brought 70 donated items to the Christmas in the City Christmas party last Saturday. I couldn’t track down Nancy to meet her but they got there safe and sound. I wish I had taken some shots of the party being set up…it was HUGE! What Christmas in the City does for those kids is absolutely amazing.
Donations are still coming in, too! I just got 5 beautiful hats from Schmobes today, thanks! Drawings will be done after Christmas to give everyone a chance to get their stuff in and get by the mania of the holidays. There’s a chance my internet might be..uh..disabled any day now because I sort of didn’t pay the bill (I’m sooooo broke!). SO if I go MIA for a bit, that’s why! All the hats coming in from now until the drawing will be mailed to Christmas in the City in January.
I plan to do this again next year, with more advanced notice. This was sort of a first thing in the morning thought this year, so big thanks to all of you who sprung into action!
For a little personal update: I’m due on July 12th, 2008. I’m feeling alright. I’m very VERY tired, all the time. Like…NyQuil tired. I get out of breath a lot, and while I’m still not throwing up I am pretty nauseous. But I am hanging in there, this pregnancy has been easier than the first. We heard the heartbeat for the first time yesterday.
I’m still suffering from a severe knitting aversion. I have no idea why, but I can’t even look at it. I’m hoping it passes soon as this blog sort of runs on knitting…fortunately I still have my stunning wit.
That’s it for now. I’m off to lay down and watch more “Duel” (so addicted to this gameshow) and relax. I’m one measly essay from being done for this semester! Woohoo. Have a wonderful holiday everyone in case the week slips by me again!

What do you get when you have 20 petri dishes with legs children in one room for a birthday party? The plague, apparently. I have never thrown up so much in 48 hours in my life. Did you know you can pull a neck muscle from violent vomiting? Well you can. I am looking at the screen right now sideways. I was falling behind in school as it was, now I’m out 2 days during the last week of school, 2 days late with 2 papers, have 2 due Friday, missed 2 exams, and 5 lectures. I’m fucked, basically. Children should have to wear plastic suits and fishbowls over their heads at all times. I’m on the mend now, sore, but on the mend.
I received FIFTY plus hats from Linda [ravelry] and a hat and awesome prize donation today from Rebecca [blog]. Rebecca sent 4 skeins of Schaefer Yarn (100% mercerized pima cotton) in “Laurel”. It’s gorgeous. I have a few packages to open too that arrived during the plague, so I’ll try and get my camera to work (I think it has seen it’s last days) and get pics of all the new donations and prizes up asap. I’m still struggling with solid food, but I’m hoping to be fully recovered by morning. (Good luck, right?)
The deadline is this Saturday if you want to make the Christmas in the City party! Otherwise your donations will be mailed soon afterward and put to good use by Christmas in the City. I won’t do the prizes until after Christmas to give people time to get their donations in (and I can assure you I will be too busy/broke to mail them beforehand!) I am planning to do this again next year and start in early November, maybe even later October. It was sort of a last minute I-need-to-erase-some-bad-karma thought this year, so thanks to all those speedy knitters that came through! You guys/gals are amazing. Seriously.
The Ravelry meet-up at Eva’s Yarn Shop [link] went off beautifully. I, with my baby-scrambled brain, FORGOT about it and ended up an hour late. (Can you believe me, seriously? Put a fetus in me and my IQ plummets.) BUT there was a great turnout, and lots of yummy stuff to eat (my “last supper” unbeknown’st to me). I was exhausted, so I wasn’t very social…I hope I didn’t infect anyone! Great to see and meet everyone and I hope you’ll be back for the next one! (Yes, we’ll be doing a next one!) I didn’t get any pictures thanks to FORGETTING my camera (seriously, my brain is oatmeal) but pictures WERE taken, including one with Eva in a knitted mohawk!
Well I’m going to get reacquainted with my pillow and hope I wake up that glowing, healthy pregnant woman that doesn’t exist, ever. I’m a month behind on blog reading, I haven’t forgotten you! 1 more week of school. One.more.week.

Brenda gives my Christmas in the City drive a shout out on the latest episode of Cast On Podcast!! I’m off to go listen!
*edit*- She called me Pat instead of Pam. This happens to me a lot, I think my mom should have named me Patricia or something.
